Arizona Nurses Celebrate their new allince with California Nurses Association in their struggle to improve patient care
Last night the Southern Arizona Nurses Coalition(SAZNC) and California Nurses Association(CNA) celebrated their new affiliation AND the opening of their new education center in Tucson. About 150 nurses and members of the community joined in the open house celebration.
Kay McVay, CNA President, and Jill Furillo, CNA National Political Affairs Director, were among those who spoke to the enthusiastic audience. They shared their stories of CNA's impressive success in working with communities to improve hospital conditions for patients and to improve working conditions for the bedside nurses.
CNA was a driving force behind California's groundbreaking legislation limiting the number of patients that a nurse is assigned to care for. Their remarkable accomplishments in this era of the corporate highjacking of the legislative process speak to their understanding of the shared interests and power of registered nurses and those they serve and of CNA's vision and ability to bring this public together to advocate for themselves for their common good.
The SAZNC-CNA Education Center is located at 3400 E. Speedway in suite 204, which is upstairs from Cuppuccino's and Readers Oasis independent bookstore.
The hours beginning in January will be 9 am- 5 pm, Monday -Friday.
The phone number is 326-4690

Yeah CNA!
Its time for our RN community to take responsibility with our community for our care.
Look where following the leader has gotten us so far... 40 million uninsured, millions underinsured and almost everyone who enters a hospital at risk because of understaffing.

Excellent article. Thanks for posting it. Tucson nurses are very excited to have CNA with us. I would like to make one little correction. The website link is incorrect. It should be listed as below:

Please check out the website and become a part of the solution. We need each other more than ever.
Thank you
