JC Penney removes War Toy from website
by jeff Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 at 11:58 AM

JC Penney targets children age 5 and up with a GI Joe-like doll in a bombed out Barbie House. You can also purchase a "World Peace Keepers" Battle Station for the budding racist in your family.

Yesterday, JC Penney removed an item from their website due to intense public pressure. The "Forward Command Post" is a bombed out dollhouse. Still on the website is the "World Peace Keeper's Battle Station", where a US Soldier can preserve "peace" in the world with heavy artillery.

Here is an excerpt from the JC Penney website.

"Take command of your soldiers from this fully outfitted battlezone. 75-piece set includes one 111/2"H figurine in military combat gear, toy weapons, American flag, chairs and more. Assembled dimensions; 32x16x32"H. Plastic. 10 lbs. Ages 5 and up."

If you search google for JC Penney War Toy, you will find a somewhat long list of different web pages of people who were disgusted by this toy.

Congratulations to the american public

Congraulations to the american people who helped take this toy out of the shelves, as they already did with the troops from Vietnam and will in case Bush decides to invade Iraq. I still hope they will help preventing it as they have helped delaying it.
As for South America, my continent, and specially my country Brazil, I hope they will help sustain our new LULA government that is being built in a true democratic fashion with the aim of furthering development and jobs, not to remain slave of the financial international community that has being enslaving us.

This is an excellent send up for Christmas, thanks for drawing attention to it! Who says there is some secret plan for One Word Order! In the spirit of the season we need a combat action figure to hunt down those dangerous Conspiracy Nuts and roast them on an open fire also!

KMART is Still selling this war toy

Good News: Controversial War Toy Discontinued by JC Penny!
Bad News: Still Available at other stores

Thank You to all who complained to JC Penny!! It is a tremendous victory to have them discontinue a project that was selling, and even back ordered. It is discouraging that people were actually buying this "Toy". According to a JC Penny Customer Service Rep., there were back orders and they have now been cancelled.

Now the bad news, K-Mart and KB Toys are sill selling the "Forward Command Post" below is contact information for them. Thank you Gina Maxwell Ulbert for letting us know that these stores are still carrying the "Toy".

This is disgusting. I can't believe it - or actually, I can believe...what was I expecting from a society so passionately promoting war, military, violence all along its existence - from beginning - to - the end??? Many might say "you're anti-american". I say "whatever". It is not what I say or think - since in true freedom I can say and think whatever I want - it is what this society IS DOING. It is disgusting seing commercials on "marines", "army" in movie theaters, on CNN channel - seeing CNN reporters openly talking about war strategies against Iraq, formerly Afghanistan....disgusting seing this terrifying toys and videogames that are supposed to 'teach' something our children and teens - what can ever become of them being surrounded by such filth???? Maybe for [most] of you, americans, this is all normal - everyday stuff, but certainly not for the [most] of the rest of the world. It is primitive, it is backwards and it is stomach-turning.

If you think this is such a great toy I would like you to read a 53 page book by a TRUE American patriot who TWICE won the Congressional Medal of Honor!! (only 17 Americans EVER to do this)
He was USMC Major General Smedley Darlington Butler.
The book published in 1934,..."War is a Racket" It is available free on the Net. I would be curious to have your feedback.
There may be more going on than you realize.

Toy from Daily Show with John Stewart
by Elizabeth Saturday, Jan. 04, 2003 at 6:46 AM

This is not a real toy. It was designed for a skit on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart - I know because I watched the show. They were trying to spoof the annual "Consumer Alerts" that go out about unsafe toys at Christmas and this was one of three toys they used during the skit.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet!

It's still on the K-mart site
by Joe Tuesday, Jan. 07, 2003 at 10:25 AM

The toy is still on the K-mart site as of 9:30pm eastern time, January 7th, so it doesn't seem like it's a Daily Show fake (though I wouldn't put it past to come up with something so ridiculous).http://arizona.indymedia.org/news/2002/12/5731.php

I'm sure the same Knuckle heads that now-a-days are trying to come across as compassionate, caring and peaceful people (to satisfy their own egos) protesting about the attacks of the USA to Iraq. Those are the same kind of people that were shocked by the sale of this harmless toy.

For those ignorants I must enlight you that not every house for an action figure is a Barbie Doll House and whoever had played and plays with soldiers do not think of soldiers in a garden full of fresh roses.

Let's focus on the real issues instead of trying to place your anger towards people who are not to blame for your own frustrations.

Have a nice day

some issues never go away
by Kevin Walsh Tuesday, Jul. 25, 2006 at 6:13 PM
thekoba@aztecfreenet.org

The Yugoslav Civil War may no longer be a current event, but the issue of the American media, government and military lying about "attrocities" is always important. I seem to recall a story from the Kosovo war that tens of thousands of bodies of Kosovar Albanians were going to be found at a certain site. Once troops got on the ground there were a few hundred bodies there, and they had nothing to do with the war.

In any case, the Yugoslav people had a right to national unity and national integrity. Those who sided with the Americans and NATO members in breaking up Yugoslavia deserved to be killed, and the "peacekeepers" still occupying Yugoslavia deserve to be killed. If such people happened to be of a certain ethnic group, that's too bad. In such cases, ethnic cleanliness is next to Godliness.

reality check
by troop Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009 at 12:13 PM

to everyone who thinks this toy is "bad " or "racist"... you are insane. to real parents who can't afford $20 or $30 for the GI Joe their son desperately wants the world peacekeeper toys sell for $3 for a figure with accessories or $7 for a neat vehicle. boys have played toy soldiers and war for hundreds of years and denying your child's natural inclinations isn't going to make him any happier. also really think about what some of the other posts on here are condoning... the treatment of troops after Vietnam. any conscientious human being who believes their treatment was honorable when they did what they had to with no right to object is quite frankly insane and should seek help. it's a toy people. just a toy.

Creepy toys
by SamanthaB Tuesday, Apr. 27, 2010 at 12:27 PM

Despite the fact that this article is very very old, I found it useful and interesting for me. Of course it is because the controversial topic of this one. I didn't know that there were some war toys out in 2002. It is a real madness. I can't understand how dumb must be the author of these toys in order to do them for children. It is really had to understand it. All those computer games and so on are really creepy so I hope that in the nearest future there will be less of them. Thanks for the interesting article and I will keep reading your blog in the future too and waiting for nice posts to come. Sincerely, Samantha Brickson from web application development

Oh.. War toys.. My childhood was full of those ones. They were my favorite ones. I don't think that these toys were amoral. These toys help for children to become real men, not girls. I have some friends whose children were playing with Barbies in their childhood and now I don't think that they are men enough. However thanks for the interesting article and keep writing in the same style in the nearest future too. Sincerely, Amanda Littson from installment loans website

I've seen those on a supermarket of my country,i bought many of those, and they are a nice deal as they only cost 13$,unlike G.I Joe toys, that the smallest action figure costs $100 ARS(My currency) And,they aren't racist or anything like that, there's no dead people, only american soldiers and their weapons,i agree with that those toys make boys real men,but if you say that they are violent,it means that Gun Stores should get closed and the armies should dissapear.
Think about it,okay?
