Protestors recreate border at Boston Marriott where Arizona delegates stayed

Yesterday, Thursday July 29 2004, a decentralized action took place in front of the Marriott hotel, where the Arizona delegates to the Democratic National Convention were staying. Protestors drew a "border" on the ground and with Department of Homeland Security pig masks and cardboard checkpoints they tried to stop the "illegal" entry of delegates into the "U.S." from "Mexico." They carried signs to alert folks about the racist border policy teamed with the North American Free Trade Agreement creates a living nightmare for the people of Mexico. Signs told of labor exploitation, environmental racism, and the global "race for the bottom" where corporations move jobs from the "first" world to the supposed "third" world in order to exploit a labor pool and lax environmental laws. Protestors also distributed flyers with information about border militarization in the southwestern states and how it has affected the people of Mexico, CA, AZ, NM, TX as well as the Native American reservations.
