Spokescouncil Meeting

Hey Y’all, send a representative to the Spokescouncil Meeting to meet others organizing around the presidential debate in October. Learn about the actions being planned and get ideas for actions that you may want to organize. Discuss existing needs of the community. This is an opportunity to coordinate planning energy and reduce duplication of efforts.

Examples of actions already being planned include a “Free For All” market, a permitted march, an alternative debate, neighborhood education campaigns. Direction action anyone?

A spokescouncil is a larger planning structure used to coordinate actions and events. Each group empowers a representative to go to a spokescouncil meeting where information is exchanged. Although decisions may be made at a spokescouncil, it does not take away an individual group's autonomy. Direct democracy is an essential component to spokescouncil meetings and all decisions are made by consensus.

Who: A representative from any group that is planning or interested in participating in actions around the time of the presidential debate on October 13th. Any group members are invited to attend but only one representative may participate in the discussions.

What: This meeting is the beginning of coordinating efforts for the week of actions. A general sharing of information of what is being planned in an effort to coordinate actions.

When & Where: Sunday, August 15th at 4pm. The meeting will be at the AIPER House located at 325 East Broadway in Tempe. A dirt parking lot is available just east of the house on Broadway.

Proposed Agenda* Items:

Other items?

*The agenda will be discussed, items added or deleted, and agreed upon at the beginning of the meeting. Please be prepared to bring up topics your group wants/needs to discuss.

Please forward this announcement to any group that may be interested in participating.
