ARIZONA COUNTER-RECRUITMENT COALITION CALL TO ACTION
by gary Tuesday, Oct. 05, 2004 at 4:24 PM

The Arizona Counter-Recruitment Coalition(http://www.arizonacrc.org) is holding a demonstration at a military recruitment center on Broadway and Dorsey in Tempe

Rally at ASU on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 11:30am in front of the MU with Dennis Kyne(http://www.denniskyne.org). March to Broadway and Dorsey(about 1 mile) at 12:30pm.

In January 2002 President Bush signed into law the No Child Left Behind Act. Because of this law, high schools that do not give military recruiters access to student's names, phone numbers and addresses, lose federal funding. Recruiters use this information to call or visit student's homes. Recruiters are under heavy pressure to "sell" the military. Of course they target minorities and the poor. Kids have told us that they are out of high school and the recruiters are still calling.

The CRC is organizing against military recruiting throughout the valley. We are currently flyering high schools weekly. We are getting our literature in the career centers of Valley High Schools next to the Army, Navy,etc... literature. We have talked to students, teachers, and Administrators who share our concerns.

COME MARCH WITH US. bring water, signs, pots and pans, drums, hope, love.
