Photo Summary of Minuteman Project Volunteers: Part 1 : AZ IMC

Hundreds of “vigilantes” swarmed to defend small stretch of the Arizona-Mexico border on April 2, picking up the slack where they say the government is failing to stop the so-called “invasion of mobs of illegal aliens and terrorists.” The month-long gathering, dubbed the Minuteman Project, has attracted volunteers from all of the country to come camp in the desert and monitor the border.

This volunteer says he is upset at the lack of border security but also wants to reform U.S. foreign policy such as NAFTA and FTAA. He is assigned to group 1 to monitor the border.

Many of the Minuteman Project volunteers carry loaded weapons, which they say is for last resort defense against criminals they see in the desert crossing the border. Locals worry that the armed group will only intensify the border conflict.

Minuteman Project volunteers purchased the pins from a local vendor. The MMP claims they are monitoring the small stretch of Arizona desert to help the U.S. Border Patrol do their jobs.

Shultz brought the Texas flag with her "to represent that all 50 states are being invaded by illegal aliens."

Pierce believes the FTAA needs to be stopped because it is taking jobs away from Americans. He is the son of Arizona Congressman Russell Pierce, one of the authors of Proposition 200. Prop 200 passed in Arizona last November, requiring proof of citizenship to receive public services and to vote.

I couldn't help but to notice that most of these "Minuteman" terrorists are WHITE! Where is the "Office of Homeland (as if...) Security?" How come the "war on terrorism" isn't a war on ALL TERRORISTS?

I think these bleeding heart liberals who believe the border with Mexico need to rethink their position, Where do all the illegag aliens come from, where does the illegal drugs come from? The aliens are in OUR country taking jobs from honest, tax paying AMERICAN citizens. Ever had your idenity stolen or your social security number misused? I have twice and both times it was a wetback who took it and used it so they could work ILLEGALLY in the United States!
Stop and consider how many illegals are criminals in their own country, stop and consider tha amout of drugs entering this country are transported by illegals.
It is not just illegals wanting a better life entering the US, it is criminals, mental defectives, and others with malicious intent coming across.
The president of Mexico obviously does not want to deal with the problem....Look at the comment he made about Mexicans nationals doing work that blacks do not want.....and the money sent home to Mexico by illegals in this country is second only to Mexico's oil export! ANd what about how these people do not pay their bills, how they are a burden to our health care system and social services......
And how about the large employers who employ them pay them less than an american worker. They do not contribute to social security, or pay any taxes.
Then there is an entire industry that has been nborn out of servicing these aliens. Phone cards, giros postales, all sorts of services that did not exsit and would not exsit if it were not for illegals. How about trafficking in phony idenification, bogus social security cards and driver licenses. Our country has made it where these people often have more rights than native citizens.
Humanitarian and compassionate are not words to be used in conjunction with illegal aliens.

We need to get these illegals out of the U.S. This is our country. There is no other country where illegals can go, terrorize the Blacks, have babies, and expect Americans to take care of them.

I think it's pathetic that the MM who disagree with the FTAA, instead of focusing their anger at the politicians, focus it at "the little guys". What a bunch of bullies.

Here are some facts.

Many gangsters are undocumented, but, the gangs are American. When the gangsters get deported, they sometimes start up gangs in other countries. These gangs are an American export.

Drugs are smuggled into the country in different ways, but they find a ready market. These smugglers are just mules -- the expendable pawns in the system. The real bigshots are organized crime, and, in all likelihood, legitimate business that front for drug businesses.

The vast majority of undocumented people are not breaking any laws except the immigration laws. They are laying low, to avoid detection.

If you pass laws to make them unequal in the eyes of the law, particularly labor law, you will actually cause their wages to drop... and that will only increase the demand for their labor, and depress wages for citizens. Think about it.

Plus, you will jeopardize citizens who might look like they have indeterminate status. Suppose you look Mexican (or Asian) -- what will you do? Carry some ID card around and register in a database? Won't this give a huge edge to illegal aliens who look like white people?

The employers do pay SS and income taxes for their undocumented workers, btw. When they go to get a job, they have fake documents. The employers check them, but don't call up anyone to verify the IDs. Right now, there is not any real effort to fine businesses for hiring people with fake papers. (aka... we are in a pro-business administration)

One of the reasons why undocumented people get a lot of services is because they are extremely poor. In America, there is a gap between services for the extremely poor and the somewhat poor. The extremely poor are charity cases, and get things for free, while the regular poor people basically lack adequate services, and get nickel and dimed.

If you're indigent, any hospital will take you and provide services. It'll come from their charity budget. In contrast, if you are just poor, they will demand insurance. If you do not have that they may triage you, and try to send you to the local government hospital. That is okay, except it's going to be extremely crowded there, because that social service is underfunded.

In countries with better social services, there are generally strict rules about non-residents and non-citizens getting access to services. If you do not qualify, you will get treated, but, you will also get a bill.

Another issue, the main issue really, is the fact that US immigration law has no provision to allow laborers to immigrate into the country. There are dozens of categories, but, only two apply to unskilled or semiskilled labor, and those both require the applicant to already have a job.

People are saying "they should immigrate legally", but, according to the law, there really is no way for the typical undocumented person to immigrate legally. It practically forces you to come over illegally, get a job, make yourself indispensible for years, then get your boss to sponsor your immigration. (There's also marriage -- but what better way to get married than to be here to meet citizens.)

The steps taken by the citizens of the United States is more than wrong. As a hispanic male, i take the fact that people other than the authorities are takeing action towards stopping immigration. The piece of information that the world misses is that the immigrants come to the U.S. for help in their every day lives and to give a proper life to the following generation.

In this message I want the world to recognize the great damage being done to hispanic lives.

As a native Texan I applaude your efforts to control the U.S. border invasion. It certainly appears that the news coverage is slanted in favor of the invaders. The spoksepeople for groups such as LULAC and MALDEF are angry and must be concerned about being exposed for radical affiliations. Surely they have all of their brilliant executives working overtime trying to plot their next move.
Selling these invaders as "honest" and "downtrodden" to the U.S. citizens seems to be getting more difficult.

See, the thing is, we don't live in a world where one must either support revolution in Mexico OR support immigrants here. We can do both, just like Mexicans do both. Just like European immigrants came here by the millions and millions more tried to make revolution in Europe! Many even came here after fighting in revolutions in Europe. Many of the '49ers, for example, fled Europe after fighting in the revolutions of 1848. Many returned home to fight again. Same thing.
