Photo Summary of Weekend Protests to Minuteman Project
by jessica lee Sunday, Apr. 03, 2005 at 6:14 AM

Several protests were organized to counter the message the Minuteman Project is trying to bring into the media and to government officials. Protestors believe that U.S. foreign economic policy is the root cause of the border crisis. Many want the Minuteman Project volunteers to go home because further militarizing the border is not the answer.

Anderson stood on the side of Highway 80 near Bisbee alerting the Minuteman Project that they were not welcome. He wants the armed vigilantes to leave the area as well as the hordes of media that showed up to blow the project out of proportion in the news. He worries about the locals who will be left to deal with the possible intensification the project may bring to the border conflict.

Leading the march to Schieffelin Hall was the Danza Azteca Cuauhtemoc (Descending Eagle) traditional warrior dancers who performed ancient Aztec dances to a rapid drum beat, and drew the most attention from the media. Protestors held signs and banged on pots and pans, an action called “cacerolazo.” “Cacerolazo is a traditional form of Latin American protest that symbolizes pots empty because people are hungry,” said Abigail Singer, who came from Tucson for the demonstration.

King took time from work to stop by the Women in Black vigil on Saturday. He is a contractor that is building improvements to the border wall. He is frustruated by the Minuteman volunteers that say nothing is being done on the border. But, he also understands that without the undocumented workers entering the U.S., the prices of many common goods would skyrocket.

The humanitarian group counter-demonstrated at the Minuteman Project rally outside U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters in Douglas on April 2. They say they support the "economic refugees whose only crime is trying to find a bite to eat." The sign reads, "this is our land, this is our struggle."

This is the section of the Arizona-Mexico border that the Minuteman Project claim to be monitoring. The wall only extends for a few miles before it turns into a simple barbed-wire fence. Trash and clothing indicate that migrants travel across this border often.

It is a bastard lie that without illegal alien criminal workers who steal our jobs, prices would skyrocket. What total unadulterated CRAP.

If that's true, Steve, then why do corporations bring them here in droves despite all of the laws against "illegal" immigration?

You are clearly an uneducated, racist pig. First off learn how to spell. Secondly learn your history, or are you one of the indigenous people that lived here before America's ancestors conquered the land (they were immigrants too jackass... only difference is they came with guns and took land from others by force); and today we celebrate that!

Do Pick apples or dig ditches for a living?

Everyone complains about immigrants "stealing" there jobs. I laugh because it's an aimed at Mexicans...I'm sure you hate Canadians...Asians...Russians (Just to name a few) for stealing them too right?!?! Or do you think Mexicans are the only ones "stealing" your jobs? I have a few more questions for you Steve. Do you pick apples for a living, dig ditches, or do you wash dishes at a restaurant? If so, when was the last time you lost a job to an immigrant? If you have a real answer to that questions...are you sure you didn't lose your job just because you just weren't working hard enough? Please, get real...there isn't a conspiracy here...it's fact...do some research outside of your own head before you speak out. Thanks.

How DARE They!

How DARE They!...
babs.jpg, image/jpeg, 203x270

Those Minutemen are EVIL!

How dare they march around on the border and cause the supply of gardeners, maids and nannys my friends and I use to dry up. If we don't do something about it, before you know it we will have to pay someone a decent living wage for these services, and I cringe to think about how that would dip into my investment portfolio. My friends and I will continue to trumpet the Bush line about them being "vigilantes" and maybe we can whip up some hysteria to scare them off.

ask yourselves this
by a trully concerned citizen Thursday, Apr. 07, 2005 at 5:18 AM

For every single person in the Minutemen, who haven’t committed a single crime, how many more people are illegally crossing the border to smuggle drugs, firearms and even human organs and sex slaves into this country, to further fuel violent gang wars, organized crime and the activities of drug cartels? You call the Minutemen bloodthirsty? How many innocent people here in America are killed because of the drugs and guns and crime illegal aliens bring with them? The Mara Salvatrucha, otherwise known as MS-13, one of the most violent criminal organizations in the US, Mexico and Central America, has put a death warrant on the heads of the Minutemen because they profit from people illegally coming into America. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Russian and Chinese mafia, who sneak sex slaves and organs through the US/Mexico border, had it in for the Minutemen as well. These Minutemen could give a shit about what you think of them; you’re not going to try and maim and kill them.

How many citizens are guilty of the same crimes? You cannot mean that only those crossing the borders are guilty of these crimes. How many US citizens commit those same crimes you mention and other more serious ones, how many US citizens go to other countries and degrade them and polute them and commit crimes there? The US does not have the monopoly on good hard working family loving people... some of those crossings the border cross is for their families and to work to provide for them.

Unbelievable
by Kay Lopez Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 at 8:03 PM

Unbelievable that our government would allow these blubbering idiots to hunt human beings with guns. How would they feel if somebody was hunting their mother with a gun. I hope the ranchers who allow them to camp on their land get the pants sued off of them. The ranchers are completely liable should one of these fools shoot somebody. They will loose their entire ranch. And well deserved.I wonder if these idiots would hunt them if they were Swiss.I doubt it. RASIST BASTARDS

Such drama, Kay! Hunting humans with guns.....you get any more hysterical and we might have problems understanding you....

And no, wanting a secure border doesn't make us racist, no matter how hard you try to pin that on us.

It's a favorite tactic of you guys though.....nice try.
