The Tucson Raging Grannies have been charged with trespassing for trying to enlist. But that didn't stop them from coming out today in force -- more than sixty Grannies and their supporters -- for their weekly protest in front of a Tucson military recruiting office.
As you may recall, the Tucson Raging Grannies have been charged with trespassing for trying to enlist.
But that didn't stop them from coming out today in force -- more than sixty Grannies and their supporters -- for their weekly protest in front of a Tucson military recruiting office.
I went today and took pictures. No arrests, although I almost got busted for jaywalking, and there were certainly a lot of cops out. I hope no serious crimes were taking place anywhere in the city

A comment on a previous thread asked why something like this in Tucson isn't done in the Phoenix area. The question is,what happened to the local Code Pink group that would mount a Protest like this? Last I saw them, was months ago at Amy Goodman Booksigning in Tempe. They don't return e-mails,so maybe they went out of business.
On a positive note,a local Peace Muslim group in the Phoenix area will have a Rally at University & Mill in downtown Tempe this Friday evening at 8PM.They've gotton alot of PR of this event via the Repub paper & KTAR talk radio.

AZ Ba'athists?
by Been There

Wow, looks like there are as many Ba'athists and Muslim Facists in Tucson as in Baghdad. Hard to believe there are Americans who don't appreciate freedom for others.
Support our troops, support our mission.

I'm absolutely inspired by such a wonderful show of patriotism. There needs to be more of this type of support for our troops. If the GOP wants to fight a war, let them send thier own kids, including Jenna and Barb. And all those who support this war can go with them.BRING OUR TROOPS HOME-NOW!!!
sad lack of understanding

It is sad to see how many people fail to understand that the freedoms men and women have fought and died for for all these decades includes those that don't agree with a current administration, and those that do.
I understand the need to vociferoously defend ones' opinion, but it should not be necessary to attempt to demeane people that hold adifferent view.

I stand with the "grannies" and thank them for their vocalizing what so many other "grannies" feel.
I have a son in law in Baghdad right now, and his wife, my daughter, is expecting their first child. I want Roy HOME with his family, as he should be.
And I want the Bush Administration to be tried for war crimes, as well as crimes against humanity.

I would like to express my huge admiration for these brave women. I think they are the TRUE PATRIOTS - the ones who are really thinking about the best for their country and their children/grandchildren - and for the rest of the world. May they grow in strength and numbers!

I wish the rest of America would do as these people did and protest this horrid fight before millions are dead from our couontry all for greed and oil control. Way to go Arizona.

I think the Ragin' Grannies are great. We have no business in Iraq, I feel certain Americans were behind the Sept. 11 attacks. Instead of criticizing these ladies, people should realize that at their age, they have life experience, and that it probably isn't easy for some of them to be out there because of health and pain reasons.

As i as well belileve that Bush needs to be taken out of office, i feel that what you are fighting you should know goes even further. That after studies and facts have been shown that this war was not even about terrorist, but to even believe that this was all started by the Bush administration. This is a link that you should go to that will get you even more enraged and fight even harder, and to those that feel that you are against your conntry, they are in denial and they are the sad ones that help kill as well. This I send to you should be sceen to as many people as possible.

YOU GO GIRLS! I saw you on T.V. this morning and wanted to tell you how much I appreciate what you are doing. We have a son in the military, and he has been to Iraq twice, and safely come home physically. I have all of the criteria to be a Ragging Grannie, all though my physical challenges (cancer) keep me from participating. I'm with you in spirit, Hugs, Jo
P.S. Chop the Bush down!
