Federal Magistrate Denies Motion for Indicted
Humanitarians Shanti and Daniel

Tucson, AZ–On January 12th, just before 5pm federal
magistrate Bernardo Velasco announced that he is
recommending to deny the motion to dismiss charges
against indicted humanitarians Shanti Sellz and Daniel
Strauss. No More Deaths has released the following
statement:

“We’ve just received information that the magistrate
judge is recommending to deny the motion to dismiss
charges. We are confident that we will prevail at
trial and we are calling on our community to come
together to support Shanti and Daniel and the
principle that humanitarian aid is never a crime.”

282 children, women and men died needlessly in the
Arizona desert in 2005. No More Deaths continues
calling on federal prosecutor Paul Charlton to cease
this senseless prosecution of these two young
individuals and to join us in defining the legal
parameters of humanitarian assistance for the common
goal of saving lives.”

A trial date has not yet been set. More information
will be released as soon as it becomes available.

Juéz Federal Nega Petición Para los Humanitarios
Shanti y Daniel

CAMPAÑA DE NO MÁS MUERTES

Tucson, AZ-En el 12 de Enero a las 5pm el juéz federal
Bernardo Velasco anunció que esta recomendando a negar
la petición para retirar los cargos contra los dos
humanitarios Shanti Sellz y Daniel Strauss. No Más
Muertes ha ofrecido el siguiente declaración:

“Apenas de recibir la información que el juéz va a
recomendar a negar nuestro petición para retirar los
cargos. Tenemos confianza que ganaremos en el juicio
y llamamos a la comunidad a juntarse con nosotros en
apoyo de Shanti y Daniel y el principio que la ayuda
humanitaria nunca es un delito.”

En 2005 282 niños, mujeres y hombres murieron sin
necesidad en los desiertos de Arizona. No Más Muertes
sigue en llamar al procurador federal Paul Charlton a
rechasar los cargos contra estos dos jovenes y que se
junte con nosotros en defenir los parametros legales
de asistencia humanitaria para la meta de salvar vida.

No han establecido la fecha para el juicio.
