Well, we marched around and we waved our signs and we made our speeches and now we feel better. :-) The world is a bright and happy place again! We have staved off the beast of dictatorship for another day...

We marched all around the streets behind a flag-draped coffin carried by the Veterans for Peace... To the beat of a marching dirge played by drummers in minuteman costumes... Making a few stops at various legal points of interest to gather and hear another speech...

People were passing around petitions... I signed like five different ones... And of course we were chanting... "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! BRING THEM HOME!" "STOP THE WAR! STOP THE LIES!" ... "BUSH LIED! PEOPLE DIED!" etc....

In front of the military recruiter's office, somebody ahead had spilled out some fake blood and the result of marchers going past was "bloody" footprints leading away from the door... They had also chalked "PAT TILLMAN'S BLOOD IS ON YOUR HANDS" on the ground...

Needless to say this was a rather shocking statement, which every person marching by had to slow down and gawk for... Resulting in the marchers becoming broken up into clumps, who then made our way back to the rallying point in Cesar Chavez Plaza before City Hall...

(OK can I just pause to comment on the beauty that is our city hall... On either side of the engraved words "City Hall" there are these carved phoenixes, and smaller ones up on the facade, used like gargoyles but they're phoenixes!!! I love gargoyles, and I love the phoenix, both very cool legendary creatures, so this excites me...)

Anyway..... We heard some more good speeches.... Music was played on loudspeakers... Code Pink sold pink peace pretzels (CUTE!) which turned out to be the promised "food", lol... But they were still good... Hippies played mandolins and guitars and we sang these old hippie songs that I didn't know but alot of other people did...

But all good things must come to an end, and all protestors need food at some point, so we had to get going. I assumed, at least, there would be food, not necessarily free but at least available for purchase... But no such luck.

Where were the freaking hot dog vendors? Duh... There were hungry people there with money....

Anyway, so that was my adventure for the day! Now I am home and contemplating my next move... It's Saturday... The night is young, and so am I !!!

OOOT OOOT!!!!

Stay tuned...
