On March 30, more than 300 students marched downtown from various Tucson schools and converged at the Federal Building to protest anti-immigrant legislation. Students have been demonstrating all week.

Yes, there were tons of American flags. I just took only a couple photos, and I guess they are not in these photos. American flags have been present at all the demonstrations nation-wide.

i guess i just dont understand what's the big deal about flags. i say raising the mexican or american flag is just a feeble attempt to breed nationalism. I think, and so do many others in the anarchist movement, that the use of flags does nothing but seperate people into ineffective nationalist movements where eventually people get exploited at the expense of a colored peice of toilet paper. If any flags must be flown, lets fly the black flag. Students, and their supporters from both sides of the border can come together under the black flag of anarchy. Where international solidarity means human dignity.
this back and commentary reminds me a good quote
"Every normal (hu)man must be tempted at times to spit on his (sic) hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats."

Born and raised in San Antonio's inter city (El Westside). We pertty much were around nuestra raza other than in school our daily incounters were with ourselfs. As I got older I would notice the so called red flags. The back entrance to the majestic theater the differation of the bath room signs at Alamo Plaza. But as time past so did the negativity of our culture with the likes of Henry B Gonzales, Joe Bernal , Henry Cisneros and countless of other Hispanic man and women that fought hard and sacraficed sometimes their personal lifestyles. And to this men and women we are greatful that because of their hard work it became easier for us, in all expects of our lifes. To all fathers, mothers, sons and daughters that at this time are in the mist of a long struggle with the border issue, not to worry. One day people of the same caliber and courage that helped my generation will rise to the challange and they will have our support, all of us. We that know and have lived the reality of what courage, faith, determination and the will of God can deliver. This day will come. La Raza Unida Lives.
