It also Traces the development of a movement of historical revision of the events of the Bellum Catilinae by examining the dramatic works of Ben Jonson, Henrik Ibsen and Voltaire. Campbell ultimately defeats Aleksandr Blok's thesis and Princeton University's professor Judith Kalb who claimed Catiline was "A Roman Bolshevik" and a "precursor to Christ."
