Arrests, warrants, and roadblocks: the struggle continues in Oaxaca City and shows no signs of diminishing
First, a correction to the last update. URO is now installed in the municipal offices of Santa Maria Coyotepec, a town that borders Oaxaca City on the south, and not in the Oaxaca City governor's office as previously reported.
Today, the PFP continues to arrest APPO members in the dirty war the government is fighting against the popular movement. There are arrest warrants out for many movement leaders, but APPO warns that the struggle will intensify if they are apprehended. Police officers dressed as civilians are stopping cars at government roadblocks.
But the PFP aren't the only ones with roadblocks. Two of the major highways leading out of Oaxaca City have been blockaded by adherents of the Other Campaign responding to the call for solidarity issued by the EZLN yesterday.
The Zocalo is still occupied by the PFP, and the new APPO encampment in Santo Domingo continues to grow. Art installations honoring the dead of the struggle are being erected everywhere, along with altars made of yellow and blue flowers, traditional representations of the Day of the Dead. At this moment there is a rally taking place, with hundreds of people chanting "ya cayo, ya cayo, Ulises ya cayo." He has fallen, he has fallen, Ulises has fallen.
Check back later today for a more in-depth update.
