Day Laborer Rally, Phx
by s Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at 6:40 PM

Today/Saturday at noon, day laborers and supporters had a demonstration outside of the Pruitt's building.

The owner of the Pruitt's furniture store and perhaps other business owners in the area of 36th St and Thomas in Phoenix got together with sheriff Joe Arpaio to take some action against the day laborers in the area. In response, day laborers and their supporters held a demonstration in front of Pruitt's building to start a boycott of the business. Fifty to 100 people were there, holding signs and chanting.
Phoenix PD and MCSO officers were there, including some on horseback. Sheriff Joe Arpaio was also there, protected by some dudes in suits. A few people associated with the local anti-immigrant movement were also there, chatting it up with the cops.
During this protest, a man pulled up to the side of the road where the demonstrators were. By all accounts, he was very aggressive, but attempted to get back in his truck, but got arrested (for obstruction of a thoroughfare is my guess).

Great Job

What a great job. We need that sheriff in Denver. We have too many illegals committing crimes and milking the system.

Too many illegals
by Illegal Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007 at 1:43 PM

Of course you have illegals committing crimes. All people who commit crimes are illegal, by definition. Why, Phoenix is just full of illegal jaywalkers and illegal sidewalk spitters and illegal music downloaders and illegal red light runners. If your sheriff isn't enforcing the law against all these illegals, why don't you all vote him/her out?

Oh wait, I get what you're saying. You have too many brown people with funny accents running around. In that case, you can take our sheriff. That seems to be all he cares about, too.

The difference being, illegals are breaking the law the minute they step foot in the United States. Same if I was to sneak across to Mexico during the night. That difference would be I would probably get shot by the Mexican army or police.

You can talk all about the fact there are people doing illegal things in America and they are citizens. We deal with them, they jails are full of humanities mistakes. Why do we need to import more?
