November 11, 2007 Demonstration against Pruitt's Home Furnishings

This past Saturday, the protesters again showed to continue their boycott against Pruitt's Home Furnishings due to police repression. This time, Pruitt's got a permit to close the sidewalks for landscaping. The demonstrators held their protest across the street. They were also allowed to march on the sidewalk, but not stand still on it. Minutemen, Rusty Childress, Stacey O'Connell, and others swept the sidewalks and pretended to do work. Some stood and sat around and simply waved american flags.
The demonstrators hired another set of great musicians to be part of the protest. The marches are without incident other than the harassment of some of the Pruitt's supporters.
One latino man got a ticket apparently for jay-walking even though others had jay-walked as well. Nothing was done about a Pruitt's supporter on a motorcycle with an american flag who went about a mile per hour down the street by the protesters, slowing and stopping traffic for a short time. Additionally, nothing was done about a black SUV that pulled into the Pruitt's parking lot while the march was going through, almost hitting marchers, including a child.
The permit for closing the sidewalk is apparently for 9-3 for last Saturday and future Saturdays for an unknown amount of time. I supposed until those slowpokes finish their work.

Rusty Childress and Stacey O'Connell chat. I barely saw Rusty doing any work and Stacey didn't even pretend he was there to work.

Pruitt's protectors relax in the shade after some hours in the sun sweeping the sidewalk. Notice the potted plants still sitting around unplanted well after noon.

Those hard-working Americans can't even get a few bushes in the ground after two hours of labor! How can they expect to compete with undocumented workers who could have that job done in thirty minutes? I expect we'll see a lot more unplanted bushes sitting by the side of the road once the employer sanctions law goes into effect.
