I attended the meeting this morning.
The Pima County Board of Supervisors passed the resolution opposing
the I-10 bypass UNANIMOUSLY.
Ann Day objected to the wording of the resolution, but in the end,
went along with the other supervisors.
The BOS also agreed to follow up with P.A.G (2030 Pima County Regional
Transportation Plan) to make sure that planning and policies are
created that reflect the resolution's intent; they believe that ADOT
and others will mostly ignore their resolution.
I did not speak, but 10 other people spoke in support of the
resolution, including representatives from The Center for Desert
Archeology, the Center for Bioligical Diversity, the Sonoran
Institute, Defenders of Wildlife and others I didn't get all written
down. There were quite a few people in the room who raised their
hands when asked for a show of hands of public attendees who support
the resolution, and oppose the I-10 bypass.
Happy Day!
