Prescott: Black Mesa Spring Work Weekend

THURSDAY, APRL 17 - MONDAY,
APRIL 21.
Greetings all,
After a cold and wet winter, a lot of land on the reservation is torn up and needs some help before planting can happen in May. I have been talking with Tree about planning a work weekend in April to help with these land tasks, as well as whatever other help and support we can provide to families and elders. She and Owen know that we have a very short time to work with because many people are in school, AND they are super amped and supportive about figuring out how to most effectively plan a weekend. The weekend that seems to be best for everyone is THURSDAY, APRL 17 - MONDAY, APRIL 21. This happens to be Earth Day weekend, as well as Passover, the Jewish holiday celebrating the Exodus and freedom from captivity...Tremendous earth and liberation energy welling up. We are looking at sending up two waves of people according to vehicles and personal schedules.
There is a Black Mesa benefit concert in Flagstaff on April 19 - Becky White (a Prescott College alum) & The Secret Mission (CD's available at the Catalyst) that Tree suggested she could meet a second wave of people at.
SO...what we need is....PEOPLE! TOOLS! SUPPLIES! (fence rolls, barbed wire, fence posts, shovels, maddox, etc) There are many ways you can support the weekend - through being there, making and posting a flyer to advertise, gathering tools (this is a huge one). The Thanksgiving Food Run was a beautiful, powerful and educational experience for so many people. Let's continue to strengthen this relationship with elders and sacred land. Clearly, few others are doing the heart and hard work.
If you do not want to be included in these emails, pipe up so we can take you off. Otherwise, let's get the conversation and rallying going.
Food Not Bombs on Sunday at 1:00 at the Catalyst to cook, 3:00 in the Square to dine and converse. Informal Black Mesa Work Weekend meeting at the Square at 3:15.
Thank you all so much for being awake and offering yourselves to your community. I hope we can make this Work Weekend a BANG.
