History Of Kidwell Gulch Road Located In Grant County, Oregon.

Kidwell Gulch Road located on Rudio Mountain in Grant County, Oregon has a historic and colorful past. In its infancy it was heavily used by Native American people as a passage over Rudio Mountain in their travels to and from the John Day River. Today Kidwell Gulch Road continues to be a heavily traveled public use road that connects huge areas of popular public lands on Rudio Mountain that are continuously used by the public at large for recreation purposes in this beautiful high mountain territory. Kidwell Gulch Road also guides the way to the old pioneer Legends and Outlaws Cemetery and Memorial on Rudio Mountain.

History of interesting, famous and exciting places: Kidwell Gulch Road located on Rudio Mountain in Grant County, Oregon has a historic and colorful past. Kidwell Gulch Road begins on Dick Creek County Road in T11S R27E near the Section Line that divides Sections 18 and 19 and it traverses through T11S R26E in Sections 13, 12, 11, 2 and 3 and through T10S R26E in Sections 34 and 27 to Holmes Creek Road, in Grant County, Oregon. In its infancy it was heavily used by Native American people as a passage over Rudio Mountain in their travels to and from the John Day River. Native American people used Kidwell Gulch Road to get to popular hunting grounds and mountainous areas where they gathered berries and other native american foods. Early in the 1900's, Kidwell Gulch Road became a heavily used logging road that was used to haul logs from Rudio Mountain to the mills in the surrounding areas. During this time Kidwell Gulch Road became a Public Use Road that was heavily used by the people to access popular hunting grounds and vacation areas on Rudio Mountain. Today Kidwell Gulch Road continues to be a heavily traveled public use road that connects huge areas of popular public lands on Rudio Mountain that are continuously used by the public at large for recreation purposes in this beautiful high mountain territory. Kidwell Gulch Road also guides the way to the old pioneer Legends and Outlaws Cemetery and Memorial on Rudio Mountain.
