Did you know that 6,500 species in the United States are at risk of extinction? The Sunchaser Challenge is giving all Americans the chance to save some of our most precious endangered animals while also taking part in an amazing adventure event.
As the sun rises on 22nd May next year, (Endangered Species Day 21st May 2010) thousands will line up across the nation, ready to embark on The Sunchaser Challenge – a new kind of adventure for every level of ability.
This exciting and unique fundraising event is made up of four identical challenges– one in each of the four different time zones on mainland United States- with one united aim, to raise awareness of the plight of rare animals under threat of extinction.
The 4 Sunchaser locations are:
Lake Saranac, NY (4 hours drive from NYC, Boston, Montreal and Toronto)
Lake Geneva, Wisconsin (1 hour drive from Chicago and Milwaukee)
Lake Havasu, Arizona (3 hour drive from Phoenix, Flagstaff and Las Vegas)
Lake Tahoe, California (3 hour drive from San Francisco)
Teams and individuals will cycle, run and kayak in spectacular scenery of some of America’s most beautiful national parks and resorts whilst having fun and facing challenges for every level of ability.
Registration will open soon for this once in a lifetime challenge but places are limited. To become a Sunchaser simply log onto to the Sunchaser Challenge website for more information.
Of the 6,500 species in the United States that scientists believe are at risk of extinction, only 1,200 are officially listed as threatened or endangered. We all have a role to play in helping protect endangered species – because once they are gone, we cannot bring them back.
