On Monday February 2nd Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich, will give a speech releasing a detailed report on the public record compiled by The Institute of Public Accuracy, among other sites easily found with search engines, regarding statements made by five of his fellow candidates, promoting the idea that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction. The Public is invited.

"The implications of this are enormous," Kucinich said. "They were either misled or looked the other way while President Bush was using the alleged presence of weapons of mass destruction as a reason to go to war against Iraq. Either way, these candidates have seriously undermined their ability to win in the general election when President Bush is obviously running for reelection based on his Iraq policies."
"Yesterday the leader of the U.S. search for Iraq's alleged stockpiles of chemical or biological weapons said he didn't think there were any. Secretary of State Colin Powell now claims we went to war to find out whether such weapons existed.
"Senators Kerry, Lieberman and Edwards, Dr. Dean, and General Clark, all claimed that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, and, therefore, contributed to the political climate which falsely justified a war.
"In September of 2002, before five of my fellow candidates joined the President in claiming that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, I repeatedly and insistently made the point that no proof of that claim existed and as such that there was no basis to go to war. Six months later, even Dr. Dean was still claiming that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. "
This Monday February 2nd, 12 noon Mountaintime News Conference, Kucinich will discuss how the information, contained now within this report, leads him to take a leadership role in Congress, and in the Presidential campaign in opposing the invasion of Iraq, and will discuss his now-validated belief that there were no weapons of mass destruction in that country.
On this all-important matter, Dennis Kucinich stands alone. He is the only Democratic candidate who voted against the Iraq War Resolution. He is the only Democratic candidate whose public statements on the issue have remained consistent and unambiguous since the idea of the invasion was first introduced by the Bush administration. He is the only Democratic candidate who consistently rejected the rhetoric and fear used by the administration to manufacture a cause for war. He is the only Democratic candidate who will ensure that American soldiers are brought home within 90 days pof U.N. approval of his exit strategy.
Many want to vote the Bush administration out of office, because they misled and deceived with the complicity of the major media, so integrity and straight talk is a major concern of Americans. We resist having a new face put on the same old song and dance, and the seriousness of war and peace, life and death which requires careful, thoughtful statesmanship, not the bluster of Bring It On.
